Fundraising family cycle in memory to thank Jigsaw 10 years on!

David Heape died suddenly in 2013 and Jigsaw (South East) helped his wife Sally and their three children navigate the early, tricky days of bereavement. The family attended our group sessions in Surrey and found comfort in meeting other families who were in similar situations, they knew they were not alone on their bereavement journey.
10 years on
Fast forward to September 2023 and 10 years on from his death, Sally and her children set themselves a huge challenge of cycling from London to Brighton with some of David’s colleagues who do the event annually in his memory. They decided to fundraise to give back to Jigsaw following the support they received and raised an incredible £3131! They certainly did “dig deep”(David’s moto) in his memory on the hottest weekend of 2023 for the 54 mile journey.

Sally Heape and her family in 2023.
When we asked Sally if she was happy for us to share her story and these photos with our supporters, she replied;
We made it to Brighton, smiling all of the way (well mostly!), it was such a special day in so many ways. Please share our story as we want to do anything we can to give hope to other families and support your work.
Feeling inspired?
It is wonderful for Jigsaw that families want to remember their loved ones by taking on a challenge event and fundraising to support us, allowing our support workers to continue our groups and social events with local families. If you are thinking about taking on a challenge then have a look at our fundraising page for inspiration or get in touch with us: fundraising@jigsawsoutheast.org.uk.
