Jigsaw South East’s Top Tips for successful fundraising!
Want to ensure you reach your fundraising target with ease? Our top tips for successful fundraising will help to ensure that you maximise your fundraising and smash that target.
Tell us your why
It is really important to let your supporters know why you have chosen to fundraise for Jigsaw South East. Maybe you are fundraising in memory of someone or to support a family you know, share your why and this will connect your supporters with your story and help encourage them to donate.
Share your pictures
Always include a picture of yourself, it’s a perfect excuse for a selfie! It is also great to include a couple of photos of who you are fundraising in memory of or who you want to support. You can also add a video to your fundraising page, this will really bring your story to life. If you want to add our charity video you can link it here.
Set a target
Even if the target feels out of reach you should aim high! There may be a figure that is significant to you, for example I want to raise £3640 to support the 36,400 dependent children who are estimated to be bereaved of a parent each year. (Source Childhood Bereavement Network, 2021)
Make that first donation
It is really effective to make a donation to your own page when you first create it, Just Giving found that people who made a donation to their own page to get them started raised a whopping 42% more than fundraisers who don’t!
Don’t be afraid to share
The first share is the most important one. As soon as you have set up your page share it everywhere! Our platform will prompt you to share your page on Facebook, Instagram and X but don’t forget to share with friends, family and neighbours on WhatsApp and with colleagues or those that don’t use social media by email or on LinkedIn.
Keep everyone updated
People will ask how you are getting on with fundraising. Keep them updated with updates of your progress on your page and add photos of your preparations. People will enjoy your progress and support your cause. Often supporters will donate to help you get over a milestone so shout when you achieve 25%, 50% or 75% of your target.
Say thank you
Almost 1/5 of donations come in after you have completed your event, so it is really important to say thank you with news of what you completed and share that fundraising link one final time to boost the amount you raise and let those who had already donated how much their support meant to you!
