National metals recycling scheme results in amazing £10,000 donation from Wealden Crematorium

Jigsaw South East were delighted to receive an incredible donation of £10,000 from Wealden Crematorium, helping to ensure that bereaved children and young people across the region continue to receive the vital support they need.
Grants and Business Partnerships Manager, Freddie, met with the team at Wealden Crematorium on Wednesday 11th February to thank them personally for their generosity and to share more about the phenomenal difference a contribution of this size will make locally. From funding specialist bereavement support sessions to supporting group work and outreach in schools, this donation will have a lasting and meaningful impact for bereaved children and families.

Jigsaw South East are truly indebted to Wealden Crematorium and the incredible funeral directors they work so closely with for choosing to donate the proceeds from the metals recycling scheme to support our work. Donations like this enable us to continue offering free, specialist bereavement support to children and young people when they need it most. It will have such a positive and ongoing impact.
The donation was made possible through the national metals recycling scheme operated by the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM). The scheme recycles metals recovered following cremation, with the consent of bereaved families, and distributes the proceeds to charitable causes. Working in close collaboration with the funeral directors they partner with every day, and with the support and permission of local families, Wealden Crematorium selected Jigsaw South East as a beneficiary of this generous fund.

As a member of the ICCM (Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management) Metals Recycling Scheme, Wealden Crematorium is able to support wonderful charities like Jigsaw South East. It couldn’t happen without our funeral directors or bereaved families who give permission to donate metals from medical implants. Together we are able to donate thousands of pounds each year to local charities. More than £22miliion has been donated nationwide since the scheme began.
Jigsaw South East extend their heartfelt thanks to Wealden Crematorium, their partner funeral directors and the families who make this scheme possible. Through their collective generosity, more bereaved children and young people will be supported to navigate their grief and look to the future with hope.
