“I feel very humbled by the support I have received. I feel amazing and am just so pleased I did it and so happy to have done this for Ken”.

The Buckingham’s

We are sending a huge thank you to Wendy Buckingham, who shaved off her hair in memory of her husband Ken, who died five years ago. We supported Wendy and her three girls’ after Ken’s unexpected death, in 2016, and she has raised a fantastic £1405 to split between us and St. Catherine’s Hospice, Crawley, who provided Ken’s end of life care.

Lingfield based Teaching Assistant Wendy, 48, wanted to do something ‘massive’ to mark the milestone and her daughters’ Charlotte, Hannah and Sophie were by her side throughout, wielding the clippers!

“I had several sleepless nights leading up to it and was very nervy and worried about how I would look. The first bit of hair to go was fine, the next few bits my head felt so cold but I then felt totally calm. The girls were so excited, really encouraging me and telling me how proud they were”.

Wendy smashed through her original goal of £250 and we are so grateful.
