Tackling Isolation Is The Key Theme Of Children’s Grief Awareness Week

It is Children’s Grief Awareness Week from 19th – 25th November 2020, and the theme, in these unprecedented times, is tackling isolation.

Children and young people, both bereaved and not are encouraged, to speak up, and #saythewords about how isolation and grief have affected them – even if they think they don’t know what to say.

1 in 29 school-age children in the UK have been bereaved of a parent or sibling and 44,000 children are bereaved of a parent annually in the UK and the figure is set to rise this year.

Jigsaw (South East) works with hundreds of children and young people across Surrey, West Sussex and Kent, to support them during the most difficult time in their lives.

#ChildrensGriefAwarenessWeek is a chance for organisations and communities across the UK to come together to show support for bereaved children, young people and their families; raising awareness of their needs and how to help.
