Volunteers’ Week 2023: Celebrate and Inspire

Jigsaw (South East) marks Volunteers’ Week 2023.

2023 marks the 39th year of Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), when Jigsaw will join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK. With this year’s theme of ‘Celebrate and Inspire’ we hope to encourage people to be the change that we want to see and get involved in volunteering in whatever way works for them.

The contribution of volunteers is often unseen and unrecognised by many, visible only through the incredible impact of their volunteering, so taking the time during Volunteers’ Week to celebrate their efforts and all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector and society as a whole has never been more important.

This Volunteers’ Week Jigsaw will be celebrating their amazing volunteers, by hosting a Volunteer Celebration Evening.

Volunteer coordinator, Sarah Dodson said:

Volunteers’ Week is a chance to celebrate and recognise the fantastic contribution our volunteers make. From supporting at bereavement groups and office admin, to event marshalling and bucket collections, we are so grateful to each and every amazing person who volunteers their time to make a difference for bereaved children and young people.

Community Fundraising Volunteer, Alyson Bowcott who has volunteered with Jigsaw for over 6 years says:

I have been involved with everything from shaking buckets outside Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s, getting wet and muddy cheering on the athletes at Hever Castle Triathlon as well as helping to arrange the lunches for the grief support groups and encouraging the racegoers at Lingfield Park to part with some of their winnings!

All of it has been hugely enjoyable as well as meeting the other volunteers and members of the team and I look forward to supporting many other events in the future.
