Well done to our brave runners

This year, Jigsaw (South East) has been represented at both the Brighton and London Marathons raising almost £1,000 in total for the charity.
Big thanks and congratulations to Pete Cartwright (25) and Mohan Mangroo (48) who both successfully completed the Brighton Marathon in 3:44:02 and 4:33:34 respectively. (read more about them and their motivation here: https://jigsawsoutheast.org.uk/marathon-challenge-for-bereaved-families/)
Dawn Helps (pictured left) decided to run the London Marathon on behalf of Jigsaw (South East) and successfully completed the gruelling route around the capital in 5:40:00. Dawn received support from JSE earlier in the year and attended the NE Surrey Grief Support Groups.
“As I went round, I thought about how proud my Dad would have been of my achievement,” said Dawn. “I was supposed to take part last year, but when Dad died in February 2012, I deferred as I knew that even though I was physically ready, I was mentally not ready to take part.
“This year, having attended Jigsaw’s groups with my mum and my niece and nephew, I thought “Well, why not? I will just walk around and enjoy the day”. What did I have to lose? So with a renewed positive attitude I took on the challenge and somehow managed to jog, walk and run around the course, something I know I couldn’t have done six months ago.
“Thank you Jigsaw – for helping me – and thank you Dad, who was with me in spirit all around 26.2 miles.”
