What does the training cover?
The aim of this training is to provide participants with:
A brief reflection on key grief theories and what we know about childhood bereavement
An exploration of different levels of need and identifying children and young people who may require additional support
Understanding what healthy grieving can look like in children and young people
Key principles for effective bereavement support
Practical approaches to providing individual support for grieving children and young people
Approaches to delivering group support for bereaved children and young people
An understanding of the importance of self-care and reflective practice when supporting bereaved children and young people
Who is this training for?
This training is designed as a follow-on to Module One and builds on existing knowledge of childhood bereavement and grief. It supports professionals to develop practical skills in identifying appropriate levels of support for grieving children and young people, including those who may benefit from individual or group support.
It is suitable for professionals working across education, social care, health, and voluntary sectors who have direct contact with children and young people who are bereaved or facing the death of a loved one.
You can access this module if you have completed Module One or have undertaken previous introductory training in childhood bereavement with Jigsaw South East or another recognised provider.
Next available training dates
Training Modules are £50 per person
- Wednesday 14th October: 9am – 12pm (for those working with young people age 11+)
- Wednesday 20th January: 12.30-3.30pm (for those working with children aged 4 – 10)
